Mark Twain National Forest - Black River Camping
We're planning our "Manly Campout" weekend for January 10th 2009 in Mark Twain National Forest on the Black River. This will be my 4th year camping on the Black River in January with this group of..."manly" men. It hasn't been decided if we'll be at campsite A or B, but both are great locations. I like the scenery at campsite B, but there's a floorboard-deep dip in the roadway on the way to the campsite. Scary.
Don't attempt to get to either of these campsites in a car. The roads (driving paths) are rugged.

Here is the hike I want to take this year; from campsite A north along a high ridge to Karkaghane Scenic Drive, than back down Cook Spring Road, approximately 3.7 miles. There is no trail here, just bushwhackin it...albeit in the winter. This would be pure misery in the summer.
